Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Decoration, attributed to David Parr, Sr., Baltimore, circa 1830, ovoid jar with footed base, flared collar, and applied tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a graduated swag and flower motif. Additional two-stemmed flowering plant motif under each handle. Collar decorated with a brushed drape motif above a freehand stripe. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Strong decoration and exceptional color. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
