Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Mug with Cobalt Clover Decoration, attributed to Peter Herrmann, Baltimore, MD, circa 1880, cylindrical mug with inward-tapering rim, the body accented with tooled circumferential lines, decorated with a two-stemmed clover plant. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. The distinctive style of the clover motif and color of the mug lead to a firm attribution to the Peter Herrmann pottery. This example is the smallest Baltimore clover-decorated mug that we have seen. A faint 1 1/2" line from rim and a very faint 1" line from rim. A small in-the-firing ping to handle. H 3 5/8".
