Rare Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "A. STATES," Stonington, CT, first quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and tooled spout, the surface covered in a light-brown Albany slip glaze under a light salt glaze. Shoulder impressed with the maker's mark of Adam States, Jr. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. A very tight spider crack to left side of jug's front. A tiny spout chip and minor spout wear. Some traces of old silver paint to surface. H 10".
