Scarce and Fine Glazed Redware Jar with Incised Bird Decoration, probably PA origin, Dated 1788, squat-shaped, angular jar with tooled banding and incised sine wave decoration to shoulder, the underside decorated with an incised bird above the number "8," flanked by saw-toothed designs. Incised below with large date, "1788." Surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Desirable early date. Good condition for an 18th century piece. A 1 1/2" rim chip. A small rim chip and light rim wear. Light surface wear. H 8 1/2".
