Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Butterfly Decoration, Stamped "JULIUS NORTON," Bennington, VT, circa 1840, highly-ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with a brushed design of a butterfly. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A large in-the-firing loss to spout. A smaller chip to front of spout. H 14".
