One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER. / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK," circa 1810, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with a brushed-cobalt oval around the maker's mark as well as cobalt highlights to the maker's mark and handle terminals. Three unusual cobalt brush strokes at base on reverse. Includes carved wooden stopper. Heavy in-the-firing chipping to base. Two other small base chips, probably post-firing. H 11 3/4".
