Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs with Allegheny, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, a one-gallon jug, stenciled "H.W. HESPENHEIDE & BRO. / WHOLESALE LIQUOR / DEALERS / 168 OHIO ST. / ALLEGHENY. PA.," with freehand swag decoration below, Greensboro, PA origin; paired with a two-gallon jug stenciled "A. ANDRIESSEN / No. 173 FEDERAL ST. / ALLEGHENY, PA." One-gallon jug in very nice condition with some staining and two tiny spout nicks. Two-gallon jug with spout chips, a tight crack extending from base to shoulder on right side, a few in-the-firing pings to surface, a small chip to underside at edge, and the black marker initials, "FDN," on underside. H (of two-gallon jug) 13 1/2".
