Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. HEISER / BUFFALO NY," circa 1852-1856, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a large flower with spots accenting the blossom and leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. An approximately 6 1/2" vertical hairline descending from shoulder on reverse. A small in-the-firing ping to reverse and some light surface wear to reverse. A small in-the-firing contact mark to right of flower including a small piece of adhered clay from the firing. H 10 1/4".
