Rare Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to G. & A. Black, Somerfield, PA, circa 1855, ovoid pitcher with tooled collar, decorated with a brushed stem bearing graduated leaves and three flower blossoms. Cobalt dash decoration to collar and swag decoration to spout. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Desirable size and classic Black family decoration on a rarely-seen form from this pottery. One spout chip. A glazed-over chip to top of rim. Two minor contact marks to body and a minor surface chip (contact mark) to handle. H 8 5/8".
