Two-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "E. & L.P. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1870, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed foliate spray accents with spotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes Albany-slip-glazed lid. Churn with small chip to one handle, a small rim chip, staining to rim, and some surface crazing to left and right of decoration, not visible on interior. Some additional expected wear to inner rim for lid. Lid in excellent, essentially as-made condition. H (excluding lid) 14 3/8".
