Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Watchspring Decoration, attributed to Captain James Morgan, Cheesequake, NJ, circa 1780-1790, ovoid jug with footed base, heavily-tooled spout, and ribbed handle, decorated with a slip-trailed design resembling two "watch springs," situated between two wavy lines. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent color.
