Fine Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK," circa 1810, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a scalloped drape motif, accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a forty-year private collection. Excellent condition with a minor rim chip, a minor base chip, and a faint 5 1/2" spider line extending from base of jar below handle. H 8 1/2".
