Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES.UTICA.NY," circa 1865, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a fan-tailed bird with turned head and crest, perched on a stylized branch. A sealed circular crack on underside, connecting to a top-to-bottom crack on reverse. Exfoliation around base area. Chips to handles. A 1" in-the-firing iron ping to interior. A minor rim chip on reverse.
