Fine Glazed Redware Jug, New York State or Maine origin, possibly Alvin Wilcox, West Bloomfield, NY, circa 1850, ovoid jug with footed base and tapered spout, the lead-glazed surface brilliantly-colored in mottled red with traces of celadon. The jug's glaze is closely-related to pieces signed by West Bloomfield, NY potter, Alvin Wilcox, although the form is somewhat different than Wilcox's typical jugs. A few small, shallow base chips. A 1/2" spout chip and other minor chips to interior of spout. A minor glaze flake to shoulder. H 7 1/2".
