Unusual Five-Gallon Cobalt-and-Albany-Slip-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "M," Union Stoneware Company, Red Wing, MN, fourth quarter 19th century, large-sized, cylindrical jug, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt "5" above a "bee stinger" motif. Top of jug dipped in Albany slip. Impressed "M" at base on reverse. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some light fry to cobalt. H 16".
