Two Multi-Glazed Redware Egg Cups, attributed to S. Bell & Sons or J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, both of ovoid form on stepped pedestal bases, one decorated in cream, green, and brown under a clear lead glaze, the other decorated with cream and heavy green under a clear lead glaze. Provenance: Green-and-cream-glazed example is ex-Rice and Stoudt, with black crayon notation, "1783," on underside. Three-colored example with a small in-the-firing base chip, which is partially glazed over, and other minor wear. Other egg cup with a shallow 3/4" chip to underside, partially visible at base, a minor chip to bottom edge, and a tiny nick near base of pedestal. H (of taller) 3 3/8".
