Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "T. HARRINGTON / LYONS," NY State origin, circa 1860, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a double-stemmed tulip. Rare use of wavy combed incising to the shoulder. Slip-trailed "6" above. Provenance: A recently-surfaced example. Some heavier salt application to base. Some old sticker residue to surface. A 2 1/2" crack above one handle. An in-the-firing iron ping below rim on front. Some fry to cobalt.
