Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Rooster Decoration, attributed to N.A. White & Son, Utica, NY, circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a crowing rooster atop a stylized ground. Provenance: A recently-surfaced example. A restored crack extending from rim to base on reverse. One handle reglued. A 3/4" chip to interior of rim on reverse. A 2 1/8" hairline from rim on front.
