Unusual Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Heart Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, second half 19th century, cylindrical form with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed design of a heart. Cobalt highlights to capacity mark and handle terminals. Excellent condition with some shallow chipping to inner rim for lid and a few in-the-firing chips to underside at edge.
