Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Washington, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "A.T. Baird, / Grocer. / Washington / Pa." Shoulder decorated with freehand stripes and vining. Base decorated with a freehand "3" flanked by stripes and underscored by a long stripe. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Whitish in-the-firing residue to base on front. Exfoliation to interior. Water glass staining to exterior and interior.
