Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "G.A. McCARTHY / & BRO. / MAYSVILLE, / KY.," Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "G.A. McCARTHEY / & BRO. / MAYSVILLE. / KY." Freehand stripes to shoulder and base. Excellent condition with some small traces of paint to surface. H 8 1/8".
