Four Pieces of Strasburg, VA Stoneware, fourth quarter 19th century, a rare, one-gallon undecorated jar, stamped "T. GRIM / STRASBURG, VA.;" a one-and-a-half-gallon jar with cobalt foliate decoration, stamped "W.H. LEHEW & CO. / STRASBURG, VA;" a half-gallon jug, stamped "J.M. HICKERSON/ STRASBURG, VA;" and a one-gallon jug, stamped "J. EBERLY & BRO./ STRASBURG, VA." Grim jar with faintness to top of maker's mark, small rim chips, a long, tight Y-shaped crack to base, continuing onto underside, and an in-the-firing ping near base. Lehew jar with a large, glazed-over base chip and three rim chips, the largest measuring 1 3/8". Hickerson jug with a salt drip to handle and reverse and traces of old silver paint to surface. Eberly jug with a few base chips and some old varnish to surface.
