Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, probably New England, early 19th century, ovoid jar with open loop handles and incised banding to shoulder, decorated on the front and reverse with a slip-trailed design of a stem bearing leaves. A large in-the-firing iron ping at base. A thin crack across underside, becoming an approximately 7" Y-shaped crack ascending from base. A very tight, approximately 7 1/2" spider line on opposite side.
