Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt "Turnip" Decoration, attributed to Boynton Brothers, Albany, NY, circa 1820, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout and footed base, decorated with a brushed design resembling a turnip, related to William Nichols motifs from Athens and Poughkeepsie, New York. Two horizontal cracks through handle. An in-the-firing separation to base of handle, along with some in-the-firing chipping. An iron ping below handle. A spout chip and partially glazed-over iron ping to spout. A partially glazed-over iron ping to front. A small stone ping to front. A long Y-shaped line to side of jug. Base chips. Two iron pings on underside.
