Stoneware Spittoon with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to Taunton, MA, circa 1840, cylindrical form with footed base, tooled shoulder, carved opening at shoulder, and recessed opening on top. Decorated around the body with slip-trailed vine motifs, the top glazed in Albany slip. Impressed "2" on one side. A small chip to opening at shoulder, some fry to cobalt, and an area of in-the-firing discoloration to surface. H 3 1/4" ; Diam. 7 1/2".
