Very Rare Lidded Redware Jar with Manganese Decoration, Incised "John Wynham," probably PA origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with delicate strap handles, incised wavy line decoration to shoulder, and lead-and-manganese-glazed interior, resting on three applied clay feet. Underside incised "John Wynham," presumably the name of the jar's maker. Includes original lid with tooled border, incised wavy line decoration, and coggled molding, decorated with wavy lines of manganese. A visually-appealing and finely-potted form. The inclusion of its original lid is noteworthy. Jar with shallow chipping around rim, minor base chips, and glaze wear to interior. Chips to edge of lid, the largest measuring 1 3/4". H (including lid) 9".
