Exceedingly Rare Shenandoah Valley Redware Flowerpot, Stamped "G.W. DUEY / RAPIDAN," Rapidan, Culpeper and Orange Counties, VA, fourth quarter 19th century, tapered pot with squared rim, the exterior coated in white paint with blue accents. Original drain hole in underside. This flowerpot was made by the same George Duey who potted in Mt. Crawford, VA in the firm of Ireland, Duey & Shinnick. It is the first piece that we have offered bearing this elusive stamp. Three hairlines from rim, the longest measuring 4 1/4". A few very minor rim and base chips. H 7".
