One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J.M. HICKERSON / STRASBURG, VA," circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with tooling to body and collar, decorated across the body with a leafy stem bearing three open-centered tulip blossoms. Shoulder impressed with J.M. Hickerson maker's mark. Excellent decoration and desirable form. A large, semi-circular crack to underside, also visible on interior. This crack includes a 3 1/4" hairline extending off from it, ascending 3 1/4" up base. Chips to molding at base of collar.
