Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Iron-Oxide Decoration, Stamped "BOSTON.," Frederick Carpenter, Boston, MA, early 19th century, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, open loop handles, and flared rim, decorated with dipped iron-oxide slip to the upper and lower body. Impressed "BOSTON. / 2" at shoulder. Rim slumped during the firing. An in-the-firing separation to one handle terminal. A large and small in-the-firing flaked section to bottom edge. A few in-the-firing contact marks to reverse. An in-the-firing iron ping to left side of jar.
