One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Swag Decoration, Stamped "W.H. LEHEW & CO. / STRASBURG, VA", circa 1870, semi-ovoid pitcher with heavily-tooled rim, decorated on each side of the body and collar with a finely-brushed swag design, including dashed accents added to the swags on the body. Midsection with stylized foliate motif. Dashes along collar and cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Spout decorated with four cobalt dashes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Very nice condition with a chip to side of spout, a minor base chip on reverse, and some light surface wear.
