Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "N CLARK JR / ATHENS NY," mid 19th century, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with spotted wing, perched on a looping, stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent condition with a 1" surface line from rim on front, a 1 1/4" surface line from rim on reverse, minor nicks to interior of rim, and some staining.
