Extremely Rare Glazed Stoneware Harvest Jug, Stamped "MHE," Martin Henry Eckerbusch, Alabama origin, last quarter 19th century, beehive form with strap handle and applied narrow and wide pouring spouts, the surface covered in a mottled reddish-brown glaze featuring greenish-amber runs throughout. Impressed below one handle terminal with the maker's mark of Martin Henry Eckerbusch, consisting of the conjoined letters, "MHE". Impressed "2" below larger spout. Exceptional form, rare maker's mark, and striking glaze. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 13 1/2".
