Rare Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped Twice "DONAGHHO / Fredericktown Wash Co Pa.," circa 1865, tapered vessel with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with freehand swags and dashes, the base with a script "3" also flanked by dashes. Impressed twice at shoulder with Alexander P. Donaghho's rarely-seen earliest maker's mark. Staining to surface. A wide crack from rim on front. A wide crack on underside, extending onto base on reverse. A 2" in-the-firing rim chip. A 7/8" chip to interior of rim. In-the-firing crazing to underside.
