Presentation Stoneware Pig Bottle, Incised "Florence / 1889," Midwestern origin, 1889, molded flask in the form of a reclining pig with hole at rear, anatomically-correct underside, and incised facial details, the surface dipped in Bristol slip and decorated with black slip spots and highlights throughout. Unusual slip decoration of the hair along the hog's spine. Incised on side of pig, "Florence / 1889," indicating the person for whom the flask was made or possibly the name of a beloved pig. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a relatively minor in-the-firing line to underside. L 6 1/4".
