Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Tree Decoration, Stamped "FENTON & HANCOCK / ST. JOHNSBURY, VT.," circa 1860, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering tree flanked by shrubs. Spotted details to trunk and base and stylized design of a star or spider web to center of tree. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Several small spout chips. Wear to surface including a few small surface flakes. Wear to handle.
