One-and-a-Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "JOHN P. EBERHART. / NEW GENEVA / FAYETTE CO. / PA.," circa 1875, ovoid jar with semi-squared rim, featuring John P. Eberhart maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled rising sun motif. Stenciled flourishes to shoulder and flanking the abbreviation,"PA," Base inscribed "1 1/2" in cobalt script. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some staining to surface, two glazed-over, in-the-firing pings to right side, and a glazed-over scrape at base on reverse.
