Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Double-Bird Decoration, Stamped "G.S. GUY & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1880, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of crossed birds perched on tree branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very nice condition with some shallow chipping to inner rim for lid, a small in-the-firing chip to interior of rim, minor in-the-firing chipping to exterior of rim (which is glazed over), and some minor in-the-firing pings to surface.
