Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Jumping Fish Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1865, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a heavily-spotted fish in mid air, diving into a body of flowing water. Slip-trailed "3" flanked by flourishes at shoulder. A desirable figural motif, executed in bold, crisp cobalt with a sense of motion conveyed to the scene. Reglued sections to base/underside, including a flake to underside, and a crack extending several inches up front of crock. Two small chips to interior of rim.
