Six-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Dated "1865," OH origin, 1865, large-sized, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and pronounced, semi-rounded rim, decorated with the slip-trailed date, "1865," flanking a series of graduated wavy lines below the number "6". Additionally, an impressed six-gallon capacity mark appears below, superimposed by the slip-trailed "6." A shallow flake and light wear to one handle. A 3" Y-shaped surface line to reverse, not visible on interior. A small chip to interior of rim. Some staining to surface. H 14".
