Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "WARNE & LETT's 1806 / S.AMBOY.N.JERSY", Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts, South Amboy, NJ, 1806, ovoid jug with footed base, tooled neck with tapered mouth, and coggled sawtooth and column designs to shoulder, the front featuring the large impressed maker's mark of Thomas Warne & Joshua Letts, brushed over in cobalt slip. Additional cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Very nice condition with three base chips, a minor spout chip, and some typical, minor in-the-firing flaws.
