Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Kaolin Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield, SC, circa 1850, ovoid jug with squared spout, decorated in kaolin slip with a large stylized flower blossom surrounding the number "4". Handle restored. A 1 1/16" restored spot to right side of jug's front, either a hole, surface chip, or in-the-firing contact mark. Minor chipping to base. Some small bits of in-the-firing residue to shoulder.
