Albany-Slip-Glazed Lion Inkwell, probably Northeastern U.S., Dated "Feb. 14, 1855", molded inkwell in the form of a reclining lion atop an oval base, with circular holes in the top of the head and haunches opening to a hollow interior. Underside incised prior to the firing with the Valentine's Day date, "Feb. 14 / 1855". Heavy chipping to base. A small chip to rear leg. A minor chip to original hole in haunches. L 4 3/4" ; H 2 1/2".
