Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Flowering Urn Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT", circa 1855, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim, decorated with an elaborate slip-trailed design of an open-handled urn brimming with a floral spray accented with dotted trails. Stylized ground below. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Missing both handles. A 5" crack from rim to far left side of crock's front. Some scattered flakes to surface. H 12 7/8".
