One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON, / BENNINGTON VT", circa 1855, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some very light staining.
