Two Pieces of A.E. SMITH & SONS, / MANUFACTURERS, / 38 Peck Slip, N.Y. Stoneware with Floral Decorations, circa 1855, a three-gallon, squat-shaped jar with slip-trailed floral motif and a four-gallon churn stamped with A.E. Smith & Sons maker's mark on front and reverse, decorated on the front with a brushed floral motif, including early wooden lid. Jar with crack across underside, continuing up side of jar to handle area, where it forms a long Y. Additional hairlines to jar's front and a 1 1/2" line above jar's left handle. Churn with 1" base chip and a smaller chip to inner rim for lid. Typical wear to wooden lid.
