Unusual One-Gallon Stoneware Jar Cobalt Tree Decoration, attributed to Henry Harrison Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1840, ovoid jar with footed base, tall collar, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a wavy cobalt stripe featuring three pine trees above. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals along with a leafy garland below each handle. A smooth, shallow 1" chip to underside at edge, possibly in-the-making. A 1 1/4" inverted U-shaped surface crack to collar, which does not extend through to the interior. A shallow 13/16" chip to rim. A small in-the-firing iron ping to rim beside a minor rim nick.
