Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt House Decoration, Stamped "A.O. WHITTEMORE. / HAVANA. N.Y", circa 1870, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a house with two chimneys, five windows, and a door, situated on a stylized lawn. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Large areas of restoration to surface, mostly to sides and reverse, not touching decoration. Some light fry and clear coat of laquer to cobalt.
