Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HARRINGTON & BURGER / ROCHESTER", NY State origin, circa 1852-1854, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant featuring an open blossom with tubular center and two buds to its right. Excellent detail to blossom including alternating shading to the petals. Slip-trailed "2." to shoulder. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A 5 3/4" network of tight lines to reverse. A 2 1/2" in-the-firing fissure to underside, not visible on interior. A minor, 1 1/2" in-the-firing surface line to interior of rim, not visible on exterior. Two chips to inner rim for lid. Some light wear to cobalt.
