Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Stump and Flying Bird Decoration, NY State origin, circa 1875, straight-sided crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed cobalt tree stump with heavily-shaded interior and two sawed limbs, situated on a heavily-decorated ground. Background depicts a split-rail fence and birds flying in the distance. Two small, in-the-making stone pings on front. Rim chips. A 4 1/2" hairline on reverse.
