Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Pruntytown, WV origin, circa 1870, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, decorated with an undulating vine bearing distinctive blossoms, each composed of three circular strokes. Brushed "3" flanked by flourishes at the shoulder. Wavy cobalt stripe below rim. A 2 1/8" rim chip on reverse. Two small chips on interior of rim. An approximately 5 3/4" X-shaped line on reverse, a very small amount of which is visible on interior.
